Jan 19th, 2010 As Kansas State showed
us versus Texas on Monday night, we must always expect the unexpected in sports
betting. Will Wednesday’s NCAA hoops schedule yield any surprises against the NCAA

WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 20
Georgetown (13-3) vs Pittsburgh (15-2)
The numbers don’t help us a ton for Georgetown and Pittsburgh on
Wednesday night. The Hoyas are just 6-20 in their
last 26 games versus the Big East against the spread yet the underdog is 6-2
ATS in the last eight meetings between these two teams and the road team is
11-4 ATS. But Pitt hasn’t lost at home this year and has won the last three
meetings straight up. I like the Panthers to get another big effort from Nasir Robinson and take this one.

Pittsburgh
Wake Forest (12-3) vs North Carolina (12-6)
It’s been a disappointing year for North Carolina and
I smell another letdown Wednesday – at least against the spread. The Tar Heels
are 11-1 at home but just 6-10 ATS on the year and they’ve lost three of four.
Also, Tyler Zeller is out until late February and both Larry Drew II and Ed
Davis are questionable for Wednesday’s game; that’s three of UNC’s top six scorers.
Pick: Wake Forest
Duke
(15-2) vs N.C. State (12-6)
Something has to give in this inner-state
battle, as Duke hasn’t won on the road yet whereas N.C. State’s 6-4
home record leaves a lot to be desired. Duke has won seven of the last eight
meetings, so it may get that elusive first road win here. Bet the over, which
is 8-1 over the last nine matchups between these two
teams.
Pick: Duke
Baylor
(14-2) vs Kansas (16-1)
The Jayhawks
were pissed after losing to Tennessee and got right back into the win column with two wins last week. But
I wonder if Baylor can at least beat the spread in this matchup. It’s 7-1 in its last eight ATS overall and the road team is
10-1 in the last 11 meetings of this series. On second thought, eight of the
last nine meetings between these two have been decided by double-digit points.
Stick with Kansas.
Pick; Kansas
Marshall (15-2) vs West Virginia (13-3)
West Virginia’s schedule hasn’t been kind of late – Syracuse, Notre
Dame and Purdue all ended up as losses for WV. Yet
the Mountaineers always seem to follow up a tough loss with a decisive win;
they’re 6-1 ATS in their last seven games following a straight-up loss. Time for a bounce-back effort.
Betting
picks: West Virginia.
