Red Storm-Orangemen: Take the Underdog Says Matt Rivers
Mar 2nd, 2010

Oh no, Susan Dey won’t be part of the Partridge Family reunion. Who is one Dancing With the Stars 2010? Who is favorite in the Bachelor finale 2010? The entertainment odds have the answer.

Matt Rivers, who was the winningest handicapper ever—nobody came close—on a large network of sites has a free pick tonight on St. John’s plus the points. They are getting 13.5 at SportsBook

The Syracuse Orangemen have probably been worse to me than any other team this entire season. I have gone against Jim Boeheim’s squad a bunch of times and they have continually shoved it straight up my you know where. Just the other day was yet another example as I thought Villanova would cover that game but no.

So I fully admit that backing St. John’s may prove to be the kiss of death here but I like the underdog Johnnies and will make a small play on them.

‘Cuse just had game day at the Carrier Dome and won that big emotional game over Jay Wright’s Wildcats to win the Big East regular season with that 14-2 conference record to go along with their phenomenal 27-2 overall mark.  Is it not possible for the Orange to let their guard down just a bit tonight for a fairly talented St. John’s team to stay in this thing? I’m betting yes and that is why we are going to see a tighter than expected result today.

I am not saying that Johnson, Rautins, Onuaku, Jackson, Joseph and the home boys are not the far superior team but college athletics is a lot about emotions and I’m just not sure that Syracuse can be that pumped for this game after what just transpired a few days ago.

Meanwhile the Red Storm will be gunning for the champs here and are an improving program under Norm Roberts.  They have won two in a row on the road against pretty solid teams in Notre Dame and South Florida and also upset Louisville as the seven-point dog a few weeks back at home. The Storm is not really a flashy team at all but DJ Kennedy is really good and guys like Hardy and Horne are alright.

This thing is more about an Orange letdown then anything else and in the end I can see 76-68 Syracuse in the end.
