Dallas Cowboys, Professional Bettors Looking Better Than Jodie Fisher and Maria Menounos
Aug 8th, 2010

NFL picks are about to get much hotter than Jodie Fisher and Maria Menounos. They certainly making you more money than GSI Commerce. The Dallas Cowboys, GodsTips, MasterLockLine, and ScoresOddsPicks cooked up better dishes than Jose Andres.

The nation’s top football handicappers did it again. While Matt Rivers and Stevie Vincent passed on the NFLX Hall-of-Fame Game, everyone else had Dallas: GodsTips, ScoresOddsPicks, and Power of 620 sports services behind every selection, the MasterLockLine.

The professional bettors at ScoresOddsPicks even predicted a possible shutout as the Bengals didn’t even threaten until the closing seconds, also picking Dallas on the moneyline.

From ScoresOddsPicks.com, which improved to 20-4 with Premium Picks nailing Dallas both on the moneyline and against the spread.

Finally, 2010 NFL preseason betting has arrived. Football fans can officially start preparing for the season as the Hall of Fame game kicks off Sunday at 8:00 p.m. ET. The Dallas Cowboys and Cincinnati Bengals get things started with the Bengals coming in as three-point favorites at Bodog.

Dallas Cowboys vs. Cincinnati Bengals (-3) – Sunday, 8:00 p.m. ET

The Cowboys certainly have the edge on offense. Even though the back ups will be in the game quite early, Dallas boasts some of the best depth in the league. Tony Romo will quickly give way to Jon Kitna, a former Bengal. Kitna is serviceable and shouldn’t have many problems guiding the Cowboys against second and third-string Bengals. Third string quarterback Stephen McGee, a former fourth-round pick, will be a major difference.

He is a scrambler and a good one. While he can’t outrun first stringers and may not be much of a regular season QB, he will dominate the third stringers.

Dallas will probably let Patrick Crayton and Sam Hurd get some reasonable playing time at receiver—two pretty good options for the first preseason game of the year. Considering the Dallas backfield is so crowded with Felix Jones, Marion Barber and Tashard Choice, a starting-calibre back will probably have to play later than normal too.

The Bengals can’t boast the same depth. Carson Palmer will eventually sit in favour of Jordan Palmer and JT O’Sullivan. O’Sullivan is an eight-year vet so at least he won’t be lost out there. Jordan Palmer doesn’t have a ton of experience.

But the key is at the point of attack. Cincinnati is very thin on the offensive line and will get dominated by a deep Dallas front seven. Will the Bengals even score is the better question. They won’t get many points, our professional gamblers agree.

Running back is thin after Cedric Benson. Second-year back Bernard Scott will probably get a solid handful of carries after fitting into the running back rotation last season. The receivers are deep and should cause problems for Dallas’ back-up secondary; talented rookies like Jordan Shipley and tight end Jermaine Gresham, plus veterans like Andre Caldwell, should see plenty of action.

The Bengals’ defensive strength is cornerback, where Jonathan Joseph and Leon Hall have developed into the best starting tandem in the NFL. Once those two sit, the “D” takes a significant step back. The Bengals don’t have much depth on this side of the ball.

Dallas is in a similar situation. Most of its defensive prowess originates from the mad-man pass rushing of DeMarcus Ware and Anthony Spencer. When those two pack it in for the night, this unit becomes far less imposing.

Ultimately, Dallas has superior offensive depth and superior defensive depth. The starters will play a quarter at most, but it that won’t be enough to blow things open.

The picks: Dallas +3 and Dallas +140 on the moneyline

Meanwhile, the top NFL handicapper of all time had a very rare Wise Guy play on week one preseason. But it was for good reason.

Here is what they told you beforehand on their Wise Guy play.

DALLAS +3 Cincinnati

Our official outlaw line is actually the Cowboys -3. The official outlaw line is what the point spread would be without any adjustments to public perception.

Honestly, this is as big of a variance as we’ve seen. The line is adjusted because of convoluted logic. The public is all excited about a few high profile Cowboys rejects playing for Cincinnati: Pacman Jones, Terrell Owens, Roy Williams (DB), and Tank Johnson.

All but Williams are toast anyway and we can’t imagine these guys any more juiced for the game than a bunch of Cowboys fighting for roster spots.

In the skilled positions, Cincinnati is fairly much set at RB and WR, with just one WR job for grabs, no pun intended and it only a matter of whether or not the Bengals will carry one or two QBs behind the overrated Carson Palmer.

The perceived Cincinnati defacto home team is neutralized by the fact many Cowboys faithful are making the pilgrimage for Emmitt Smith’s induction.

An overlooked fact is that Pokes head coach Wade Phillips said he did “some” prep work for Cincinnati, a fact that is generally left for the third week of preseason.

The Bengals are very young on the offensive line, especially in the second unit. They will struggle in pass protection.

The Pokes should be the favorites.

Clearly Wise Guy plays from GodsTips are widely accepted by virtually every bookmaker, Vegas runner, pro bettor, Vegas insider, oddsmaker, and fellow handicappers alike as the strongest pick in sports gambling.
